Structural equation modeling linking perceived heterosexism, mental health, and nonsuicidal self-injury in ethnically diverse sexual minority men and women - ProQuest

Description

Traumatology: An International Journal23.3 (Sep 2017): 258-264. This study examined associations among experiences of perceived heterosexism, mental health, and nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) in an ethnically diverse sample of sexual minority adults (SMA). Participants self-identified as gay, bisexual, queer, or an “other” nonheterosexual sexual orientation (n = 239), and completed a national online survey. In the total sample, 14.2% of participants reported having engaged in NSSI during the past year, and 35.6% at some point in their lifetime.
