Perturbation approach to the determination of phase transitions in simple liquids.

Abstract
In this work we present a hard-sphere based perturbative
scheme applied to the determination of the binodal curves in simple
liquids. The method relies on the Rasaiah/Stell-Mansoori/Canfield
perturbation method using the hard-sphere fluid as the reference system.
The structural information of the hard-sphere system needed in the theory
is supplied by the Rational Function Approximation method introduced by S.
B. Yuste and A. Santos (Phys. Rev. A, 43, (5418) 1991). The resulting scheme
is parameter free and yields a rather good approximation, compared with
simulation results, once applied to the hard-core Yukawa and the
Lennard-Jones potentials.
