(2002)

Abstract

The technology penetrates in all layers of society, only when it is in a form where people can take it, understand it. Computers have entered our lives in more ways than one. Still in India, one major hindrance in way of computers reaching out to the whole population is inadequate literacy. The paper discusses making of interfaces which can be used with various automation machines, equally well by people at various literacy levels. The interfaces proposed are very simple interfaces, which are containing only the required elements, color-coded, essentially audio enabled, having limited number of options so not to confuse the user, easily learnable. These interfaces become easier as a person uses it more number of times.
