Abstract

EXAFS measurements on and above the CsL(III) absorption edge were performed in LiCsSO(4) (LCS) and in the system Li(1.44)Rb(0.11)Cs(0.45)SO(4) (LRCS), aiming at the identification of the local symmetry around Cs ions in this new mixed metal sulphate LRCS. EXAFS simulations were also carried out and the results of the LRCS agrees well with recent single-crystal x-ray diffraction measurements, confirming that a new crystalline phase is expected for the mixed system LiCsSO(4)-LiRbSO(4).
