Abstract

This article discusses a study which investigated whether academics can help practitioners build upon the accounting profession's recent success in responding to marketplace information needs and regulatory requirements. Academics use rubrics as an evaluation device to measure the extent to which students have progressed in obtaining certain skills or awareness. It was noted that for accounting education to be relevant, a bridge must be maintained between the academics and the professional community.
