Strong dynamical heterogeneities, out-of-equilibrium dynamics, and coarsening in spin glasses

Abstract

We analyze numerically the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of the $J$ Edwards-Anderson spin glass, focusing on the signatures of the groud-state topology on the finite low-temperature dynamics. The groud-state information allows to classify the spins into two sets: solidary and non-solidary spins, the former showing ferromagnetic-like order. Using this information we are able to quantitatively account for the strong dynamical heterogeneities observed, for instance, in the flipping time distribution and in the violation of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem in the low temperature phase. A careful analysis shows fingerprints of coarsening within the set of solidary spins, thus indicating a clear presence of a growing correlation length.
