This paper discusses an examination of aging degradation
of mechanical performance of composite insulators, and also describes
useful approaches for analyzing their long term performance so as
to develop reliable composite insulators. The static load time test
data are examined by Weibull distribution for their capability of
pressuming long term performance. Degradation of mechanical
strength and the behaviour of FRP rod are also analyzed by the
acoustic emission method. In addition the cyclic load tests are performed
to check the delayed rupture characteristics.
