Abstract
The article presents an exploration and commentary on the influence of what the author calls \dqpulp history.\dq Pulp history is defined by the same metaphor which is used between pulp fiction and classic literature, highlighting its sensational and alternative characteristics, often to the point of outright fantasy. The author describes the psychological pull of the genre and its prevalence in the academic world. The particular strength of pulp history in prehistorical theories is described, pointing out several examples, including James Churchward's \dqThe Lost Continent of Mu.\dq
