Free energy fluctuations and chaos in mean-field spin glasses
T. Aspelmeier. Abstract Book of the XXIII IUPAP International Conference on Statistical Physics, Genova, Italy, (9-13 July 2007)
Abstract
The sample-to-sample fluctuations of the free energy in the mean-field Ising spin glass are a long standing unsolved problem in spin glass physics. Here it is shown, using a modified interpolating Hamiltonian technique, that the fluctuations are closely connected to an apparently unrelated phenomenon, namely bond chaos. Chaos in spin glasses, usually considered for finite-dimensional spin glasses, is also present in the fully connected model. The new connection between the fluctuations and chaos allows for analytical calculation of the fluctuations.
