G. Blumenstyk. Chronicle of Higher Education, (2007)
Abstract
The article reports that the National University system, an institution that operates a number of branch campuses across California and Nevada, has bought a for profit college, part of the university's broader strategy of giving ever growing higher education companies a run for their money. National has acquired WestMed College, a vocational institution that offers nondegree training for nurses, paramedics, legal assistants, and early-childhood educators. The price was not disclosed. WestMed, with campuses in San Jose and Atwater, was privately owned and enrolled about 350 students.
