Noun and/or prepositional phrases with multiple premodification pose a problem in translation from German into a Romance language like Catalan or Spanish. In this article we assume that there is a correlation between the degree of complexity of the process of translation of these phrases and the degree of speciality of the text. Therefore, technical documents should be a paradigmatical example of the type of difficulties translators are confronted with when translating these kinds of phrases. Using data taken from a parallel corpus (German-Catalan/Spanish), in this article we analyse the strategies adopted by translators facing this kind of linguistic divergence. (A.)
