A Design Approach for Traffic Control System Based on ARM

Abstract

Nowadays congestion in traffic is a serious issue. The traffic congestion can also be caused by large Red light delays, etc. The normal traffic control systems operates on a timing mechanism that changes the traffic lights after a given interval, so the traffic lane wait until the green light, time setting is almost same and fixed. A road was always crowded with vehicles and go-ahead time is short. So, vehicles can't pass through in the time allowed. But sub-lane has few vehicles and go-ahead time is relatively long. The ARM7 based traffic control system propose multiple traffic light control and monitoring system that reduce possibilities of traffic jams, caused by traffic lights, to an extent. The system is based on ATmega16 and ARM7.
