Abstract
In modern Polish the term „Polonia“ refers to the Polish diaspora. But „Polonia Library“ does not only mean „Polish books for Polish People outside Poland“. The objective of Polish Institutes worldwide is to bring contemporary Polish culture primarily to a non-Polish audience. The paper analyses the impact, position and network activities of the Polish Institute Library in Berlin as a multiethnic community and a leading location of science, education, culture and media in consideration of the regional library environment.
