C. Dimopoulos, and N. Mort. Proceedings of the 2nd Workshop on European Scientific
and Industrial Collaboration (WESIC-99), (1999)
Abstract
Evolutionary computation methods have been applied
successfully to a wide range of manufacturing
optimisation problems. However, Genetic Programming
applications to manufacturing optimisation have rarely
been reported. In this paper we present a Genetic
Programming methodology for the diagonalisation of
binary machine-component matrices in cellular
manufacturing. The procedure is based on the evolution
of a similarity coefficient for each problem
considered. The application of the method is
illustrated with the help of a test problem taken from
the literature
