Abstract
Design work and computer-aided design (CAD) systems are described in this contribution. To increase the efficieny of design work and to rationalize the product development process, technical, organizational and ergonomic aspects have to be considered. Characteristics of design tasks, especially different levels of knowledge representation for design problem-solving and decision-making have to be taken into account. Structural levels of human-computer interaction may help to derive ergonomic requirements for CAD systems.
