Necesidades de mejora y adecuación en la traducción de textos turísticos promocionales

Zusammenfassung

This paper discusses the current needs of high-quality translations in the tourism domain in Spain, as well as it highlights the lack of professionalism in the translation of tourist texts nowadays. Tourism discourse is considered here a specialized language and, as such, its own features and conventions must be taken into account at the time of translating. Until recently, this kind of discourse was considered a non-specialized discourse and, consequently, translation of tourist texts has also received little attention as a specialized translation, both in the academic and professional sector. Our main goal in this study consists in displaying the urgent needs of training translators in the tourist domain, so that they become capable of properly translating tourist texts in a high-quality level and thus, satisfying visitors' needs in our country. To do so, we will firstly present the importance of tourism sector in the Spanish economy; secondly, we will discuss the relevance of tourist text translations and their main features and, finally, the need for professionalism in tourist translators and the measures that should be adopted so as to enhance the quality of this kind of specialized translation.
