Abstract
A theoretical analysis of a direct detection receiver for AMI encoded
optical CPFSK signals is presented. The results of the analysis show
that AMI-CPFSK with nonuniform laser FM response approaches NRZ-CPFSK
with flat FM response to within 0.25 dB at a bit-error rate of 10<sup>-9</sup>
with modulation index h=0.8 and normalized line width &Delta;&nu;T=5&middot;10<sup>-3</sup>.
The theoretical results are confirmed by simulation
