The use of sign language combined with technology attempts to bring people together, promoting social inclusion, making easier the communication. This work has as main objective to develop an application that interprets and translate the alphabet of Brazilian Sign Language in real time using the Kinect as input, and Artificial Neural Networks as a technique for recognition and processing of information. The developed system allows writing words from the identification of Libras alphabet positions, allowing its use for language teaching. As a result, there has developed the application to the recognition of static positions of LIBRAS alphabet, with the writing of words in real time.
