The work also presents information about experimetal data obtained from others studies MIller2000, Miller1973, Dokos2000. The author affirms that many soft biological tissues has similar features and dependencies as elastomeric materials. An important feature is the rate dependence observed in the stress-strain behavior. For example, the compressive stress-strain behavior of swine brain tissue (MIller1999), monkey liver and kidney tissue (MIller2000 and Miller1973) are observed to be highly dependent on the stran rate. Cyclic shear stress-strain of a rat septal myocardium tissue (Dokos2000) exhibits hysteretic stress-strain during cyclic loading, similar to the elastomeric materials. The paper describes the new mechanical testing device proposed by Dokos2000 to experimentally determine the stress response of a cyclic simple shear of a rap septum specimen where it exhibited an anisotropic response.
