Abstract
A study investigated education quality in private higher education institutions of the Russian Federation. Findings revealed that the uneven and conflicted nature of student motives to learn required instructors in private colleges to use persuasion, incentives, and encouragement to teach students. Moreover, a focus on mastery of academic subjects hampered further improvement of the education process at these institutions. Other findings and implications of this study are discussed.
