Abstract
The dislocation damping theory of Granato and Lücke has been used to analyse the data on aluminium alloys containing 1 and 2 wt. % copper; the method of Fiore and Bauer has been followed. The analysis yields values of loop length and density of dislocation, and also, the binding energy between solute atoms and dislocations. Furthermore, the expression for the critical amplitude, obtained by Blistanov and Shaskolskaya by extending Granato et al. theory of recovery of damping, has been suitably used here to obtain values of the recovery parameter and the Cottrell parameter of attraction for these alloys.
