Abstract

Multi-terminal representations constitute a central concept in the analysis of a large system through its subsystems and are based on linear graph-theoretic methods. The subject of diakoptics also has an identical aim, but the origins of its development are quite different. The purpose of this paper is first to establish links between these two parallel sets of concepts. Having achieved this, the advantages of the approach based on multi-terminal representations are emphasized.
