Abstract
Anyons are particles that interpolate between fermions and bosons. Anyons in one dimension (1D) acquire a step-function-like phase when two identical particles exchange their positions 1--3. The pairwise dynamical interaction between identical particles is inextricably related to their statistical interaction through scattering. We show that the quantum degenerate signature of 1D interacting anyons is equivalent to identical particles with generalized exclusion statistics 4,5. The anyonic interaction and the dynamical interaction implement a continuous range of generalized exclusion statistics, providing a signature of strongly interacting anyons, including the strongly interacting 1D Bose gas. The thermodynamics and the local two-particle correlation function derived from the generalized exclusion statistics are in close agreement with the results derived for the anyon model using the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz.\\
