The study involved ten female and ten male experienced English‐Persian translators. The empirical part comprised three phases: an initial pilot study, a translation task involving the twenty translators, and interviews with the translators. Among other things, the study showed that, as a translation‐specific activity, ‘manipulation ‘ is ideologically motivated.
