Abstract
The solid solution hardening taup of Au-In,-Cd,-Ga,-Zn single crystals is measured in the plateau region. A fits better than . The hardening by different solute atoms in gold is compared with the results on Ag and Cu alloys and with the existing theories. A universal description for all three f.c.c. alloy systems using a combined size and modulus interaction is discussed.
