Abstract

Aluminum wire scrap was collected to manufacture ingots, as we melted aluminum wires with high purity zinc and manganese metal. To examine the physical and mechanical properties, these alloys were cut into small strips and polished. The Vickers hardness (HV) technique was used to measure the hardness. The mechanical properties of the alloy increased with increasing zinc and manganese concentrations. It is observed that the values obtained from the EDX measurements and the SEM images are identical. Ingots contain gray and black areas; In the black region found, the elemental ratios of Al and Mn are high. XRD analyzes show that the α-Al peak is the main peak of all alloy configurations shown in all alloys. The secondary phases are Al2Mn and Al(MnZn) 6. It is clear that when the percentage of zinc increases, the parameters in the alloy structure decrease.
