Abstract
The effects of food deprivation on the latency of the fighting response in isolated Siamese fighting fish were investigated. 4 groups of 9 Ss each were deprived for 0, 22, 46, and 70 hr., respectively. Latency was defined as the time between presentation of a mirror and initiation of the fighting response. An analysis of variance showed virtually no difference between any of the groups. Further study of the effect of hunger on the fighting response in the context of a complex social environment was suggested. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
