Abstract

This Master-Thesis has been written in connection with a research project (Sfb 374) of the University of Stuttgart. In cooperation with the Fraunhofer IAO a concept for geometric auto-calibration of back projecting, stereoscopic VR-systems had to be developed. For that purpose the following aspects were investigated: 1. Registration of geometric projection properties 2. Algebraic description and correction of projection errors 3. Universal employment for arbitrary 3D real-time environments It could be shown, that the registration process is tolerant against strong scatter light effects. The calculation of the pre-warping correction parameters can be done for single and dual (overlayed) projections. Moreover the procedure does not influence base architecture and effect bandwidth of VR-frameworks, because of using an independent second rendering pass.
