Abstract

The author offers opinions on the economic future of newspapers and newspaper publishing. The current difficulties experienced by the industry are said to have created excessively gloomy forecasts for it. Newspapers retain a huge market share in the mass media industry, and their Web sites attract a large majority of Internet users seeking news. These strengths seen as allowing newspapers to recreate themselves for the coming era of digital information presentation.
