Die Kombination beider Verfahren erwies sich als sinnvoll und notwendig, da sich die Selbsthilfegruppe der Pflegeeltern stillschweigend darauf ?geeinigt? hatte, dass ihr gemeinsames Problem vor allem die Verhaltensauffälligkeit der Pflegekinder sei. Diese Problemdefinition war das einigende Band der Gruppe und zugleich die Ursache für eine erfolglose Bewältigung der Probleme sowohl mit den Kindern wie auch mit der Schule, dem Jugendamt und anderen Institutionen. Eine konstruktive Arbeit der Selbsthilfegruppe wurde erst möglich, als die Familien gelernt hatten, ihre familialen Strukturprobleme (schwache Generationengrenzen, gestörte Paardyade u.a.) zu bewältigen. Die Interaktion in den Familien, der Selbsthilfegruppe und mit wichtigen Institutionen (Schule, Jugendamt etc.) verbesserte sich. Die Symptome der ?verhaltensgestörten? Kinder reduzierten sich zum Teil drastisch. (DIPF/ Orig.) Foster-families were both supervised a group and given family therapeutic counselling. Combining these two methods proved to be meaningful and necessary since the self-help group organized by the foster-parents had tacitly ?agreed" to regard the foster-children's maladjustment as their joint problem This problem definition was the bond uniting the group and at the same time the reason why they failed to cope with the problems caused by the children as well as the school, the youth welfare office and other institutions The self-help group was not able to work constructively until the families had learned to cope with the structural problems existing in their families (such as weak limits between the generations, disturbed couple dyad etc ). Interactions in the families, the self-help group and with important institutions (school, youth welfare office etc) then improved.
