Abstract

This paper is concerned with the experimental analysis of a titanium brazed plate-fin heat exchanger with offset strip fins in liquideliquid heat transfer processes. An experimental program is conducted by using firstly water on both sides of the heat exchanger and secondly 10e30 wt% ethylene glycol aqueous solutions as working fluids. The pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics are experimentally determined. The Wilson plot method is applied to the reduction of the experimental heat transfer data. An empirical correlation to determine the single-phase convection heat transfer coefficients as a function of the Reynolds number is obtained. The results are validated against experimental data and other correlations found in open literature. In the paper, the experimental setup and procedure are described, the reduction data processes detailed, and the experimental results presented and discussed.
