Abstract

The article reports on the plan of U.S. firm Kaplan International to establish the first for-profit university in Great Britain. The company is expected to submit an application to the Privy Council for degree-awarding powers. Kaplan has partnerships with several universities across the region including Glasgow and Sheffield. Existing British for-profit private institutions offer degrees in partnership with established universities.
