Abstract
The structural and bulk magnetic properties mixed spinel ferrite system Ni Mg Al Fe O (x = x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) have been investigated by 0.5 0.5 x 2-x 4 means of X-ray diffraction, magnetization and ac susceptibility measurements. The cation distribution determined through x-ray data are supported by the magnetization and susceptibility measurements. The study

is of collinear type and also indicated a strong A-B interaction even though a nonmagnetic cation is substituted. The Curie temperature determined from ac 3+ susceptibility is found to decrease rapidly with small addition of Al .
