Abstract
There has been an increased risk of mental health issues among older adults due to COVID-19
pandemic restrictions. The aim of this scoping review is to use emerging evidence to identify the
types of information and communication support system needed by older adults above 60 years
to support the stability of their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sixteen studies
about information and communication support for mental health of older adults during the
COVID-19 pandemic were identified with search from EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Database
of Systematic Reviews, JBI Evidence Synthesis, and Epistemonicos. A thematic synthesis of the
data revealed that the use of information and communication support systems by older adults
can lead to a reduction in social isolation, acquisition of relevant information, improvement in
wellbeing and a general balance in mental health. Therefore, information and communication
support system should be employed and tailored based on their skill maximum benefits.
