Abstract
The system of children's and young readers' literature in Basque is both a latecomer to new European literary trends and fledgling in that its repertory is still limited, which makes it an ideal testing ground for the development of all kinds of translation strategies. The present work discusses the most notorious strategies or "manipulations", whether voluntary or involuntary, used by translators in their attempt to adapt texts to a new reading public.
