Abstract
Special attention is paid to the combination of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus, since both diseases relate to the second half of life. The pathogenetic mechanisms underlying the high frequency of the combined course of COPD and type 2 diabetes mellitus are being actively studied. Concomitant diabetes accelerates the progression of ventilation disorders and worsens the prognosis, increasing the risk of mortality from COPD.
