Abstract
Perceptual components can be defined as sophisticated software processing units that extract context from audio and visual sensor streams. This chapter starts by outlining the importance of interface specifications for perceptual components in a multivendor environment, i.e., an environment with multiple perceptual component providers. Interface specifications are discussed in terms of input, output, and configuration parameters of perceptual components.
