Abstract

We studied the standard Axelrod's social model, using the concept of lattice temperature as an order parameter. We show that on both sides of the critical point, where the order/disorder transition occurs, this temperature changes in sign. This point corresponds to the transition homogeneous/heterogeneous culture in this model, and the entropy of the system also shows a maximum. We discuss the relationship between the lattice temperature and the real temperature, in terms of the cultural traits of the social agents.
