Using from information theory just its first axiom - the information measure depends only on the pertinent probability distribution -, and assuming that the microscopic energy levels depend upon an external parameter $A$, we show that all usual results of statistical mechanics for reversible processes follow straightforwardly, without invoking neither MaxEnt nor Gibbs's ensemble postulates.
