Seine zentrale These ist, dass die heutige »Arbeitsgesellschaft ein posttraumatisches Syndrom (ist). Die Angst, die sie zusammenhält, ist Folge von Jahrhunderten der gewalttätigen Durchsetzung des verallgemeinerten Zwangs zur Arbeit im Zuge der Unterwerfung der Menschen unter das Kapital.«
Die Blutgesetzgebung sollte die aus der gewohnten Lebensbahn Herausgeworfenen zur Arbeit unter kapitalistischen Bedingungen zwingen und die kapitalistische Arbeitsdisziplin durchsetzen, ohne dass die neu entstehenden kapitalistischen Betriebe (Manufakturen etc.) sie bereits alle aufnehmen konnten. Die Blutgesetzgebung ist eine der grausamsten Erscheinungsformen der urspr. Akkumulation des Kapitals.
