Das MOST Projekt beabsichtigt, die Softwaretechnik durch den Einsatz von Ontologie- und Schlussfolgerungs-Technologien zu verbessern. Hierfür werden im Rahmen des Projektes Technologien zur Integration von Ontologien in eine modellgetriebene Softwareentwicklung entstehen. Diese Integration berücksichtigt alle beteiligten Artefakte (z.B. Ontologie- und Modellierungssprachen, Modelle und Werkzeuge) sowie die Entwicklungsprozesse (die Lenkung der Prozesse und des Schlussfolgerns sowie die Nachvollziehbarkeit der Modelltransformationen). Die modellgetriebene Softwareentwicklung ermöglicht außerdem das Erstellen, Verwalten und Warten von“Ontology-aware” Software. Das Projekt evaluiert die enstehenden Methoden anhand dreier Fallstudien in den Bereichen Produktlinien für das Netzwerkmanagement und Unterstützung von SAP Anwendungsentwicklung.
