In The Lancet Psychiatry, Belinda R Lennox and colleagues1 present a report in which 228 patients with first-episode psychosis were compared with 105 healthy control individuals regarding prevalence of serum autoantibodies to neuronal surface antigens. Serum NMDA receptor (NMDAR) antibodies were specifically seen in patients with first-episode psychosis (not healthy controls) without any clear association to phenotypic characteristics of the patients.
