Welcome to Data.gov
The purpose of Data.gov is to increase public access to high value, machine readable datasets generated by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government.
We are a loosely organised group of practitioners whose projects and products rely on the quality of the data that's out there. We work with data publishers, tool builders, application developers and standards groups towards an interoperable web of data.
Factual is a platform where anyone can share and mash open data on any subject. We provide smart tools to help the community build and maintain a trusted source of structured data. And this data can be used through widgets and APIs to help application developers and content publishers be more innovative and productive.

The notion of allowing access to your website content and data via API's and other machine readable means is well embedded in geek circles.
This presentation aims to look at the non-technical reasons why these approaches are a good idea, arguing that it is time for Machine Readable Data (MRD) approaches to be better communicated to content owners, budget holders and other non-technical stakeholders.
A project being undertaken by Curtis+Cartwright with JISC funding in 2009, exploring the legal issues associated with the sharing and reuse of library catalogue records.
You can use this website to clarify and advance your understanding of what you are entitled to do with the bibliographic records which you hold within your institutional library catalogue.

The Bibliographic Knowledge Network (BKN or BibKN) is a loose coalition of partners funded by the NSF Cyber-enabled Discovery and Innovation (CDI) Program. The mission is to build free tools and applications for researchers to distill, normalize, reconcile, publish, and analyze large open bibliographic datasets, and to develop a network of websites and webservices participating in this activity.
Datalift brings raw structured data coming from various formats (relational databases, CSV, XML, ...) to semantic data interlinked on the Web of Data.
Datalift is an experimental research project funded by the French national research agency. Its goal is to develop a platform to publish and interlink datasets on the Web of data. Datalift will both publish datasets coming from a network of partners and data providers and propose a set of tools for easing the datasets publication process.
