Factual is a platform where anyone can share and mash open data on any subject. For example, you might find a comprehensive directory of restaurants along with dozens of searchable attributes, a huge database of published books, or a list of every video game and their cheat codes. We provide smart tools to help the community build and maintain a trusted source of structured data.
PowerStats provides access to nine postsecondary datasets and the thousands of variables they contain. PowerStats is an addition to the NCES Data Lab. NCES Data Lab Consists of the Following Tools (Descriptions from NCES Web Site): QuickStats + Create a simple table quickly + View your output as a chart or table + Choose from many data sets each with about one hundred variables + Select from postsecondary studies PowerStats + Produce complex table + Run linear and logistic regressions + Choose from many data sets each with thousands of variables Library + Search existing tables and figures to find answers to your questions. Visit NCES Tables and Figures. + Coming soon: Thousands of published tables created using PowerStats and QuickStats.
The Data Preservation Alliance for the Social Sciences (Data-PASS) is a broad-based partnership devoted to identifying, acquiring and preserving data at-risk of being lost to the social science research community. The partners coordinate identification, acquisition, and cataloging of data at risk; develop best practices for data archiving; and create a shared infrastructure and practices for cataloging and preservation. Data-PASS is led by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan, the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at the University of Connecticut, the Howard W. Odum Institute at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the Henry A. Murray Research Archive, a member of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University, the National Archives and Records Administration, and the Harvard-MIT Data Center.
In the decentralized Indian Statistical System official statistics are available from different wings of the government both at the Centre and States/Uts. The Ministry of Statistics acts as the nodal agency for coordination and development of official statistics. It is proposed to develop the website of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation as a single point contact for accessing key official statistics on key indicators. It is also planned to provide access to data users to the large databases available from National Sample Surveys, Annual Survey of Industries, Economic Census etc to enable them critically analyze it derive findings from these databases. The National Data Warehouse set up by the Computer Centre uses advanced tools of Cognos Software for the design, development and deployment of the Data Warehouse.
Data are currently stored as spreadsheets. Data include some series not found anywhere else. Eventually we intend to establish a searchable, menu-driven database. The data we currently have are only a beginning, more extensive than in other free sources, but sparse in an absolute sense. We are gathering data as time and convenience allow, and welcome help.
Open S.E.C. is a web service datafeed for fundamental financial data from income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows as reported to the Securities and Exchange forms 10-K (annnual report) and 10-Q (quarterly). We use logical/syntactic parsing algorithms to retrieve and build databases of financial statements from publicly available source documents. We provide a raw public datafeed which is free and open to use for all purposes, including but not limited to quantitative financial modeling and trading, risk management, programming and development of financial applications, industry research, fundamental equity analysis, and academic research.
University of Virginia Library. This resource provides access to the 1944 through 2000 County and City Data Books. This service provides the opportunity to create custom printouts and/or customized data subsets (subsets only available for 1988-2000).
The AGing Integrated Database (AGID) is an on-line query system based on AoA-related data files and surveys, and includes population characteristics from the Census Bureau for comparison purposes. The system allows users to produce descriptive information in graphical or tabular form, at the level of detail most suited for their needs. The four options or paths through AGID provide different levels of focus and aggregation of the same data – from individual data elements within Data-at-a-Glance to full database access within Data Files.
The goals of the International Household Survey Network are to promote the collection, dissemination, and use of sound data for decision-making and for monitoring development progress at national and international levels.
The Open Data Protocol (OData) is a Web protocol for querying and updating data that provides a way to unlock your data and free it from silos that exist in applications today. OData does this by applying and building upon Web technologies such as HTTP, Atom Publishing Protocol (AtomPub) and JSON to provide access to information from a variety of applications, services, and stores
The Scientific Drilling Database (SDDB) is the repository for data from operations of the International Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP) and associated projects. It is operated by GeoForschungsZentrum Data Centre and by ICDP's Operational Support Group (OSG). To
Civil War Data 150 (“CWD150”), is a collaborative project to share and connect Civil War related data across local, state and federal institutions during the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, beginning in April of 2011. The project will utilize Linked Open Data to find and create connections between archives and help increase the discovery of these resources by researchers and the general public alike.
The Data-gov Wiki is a project being pursued in the Tetherless World Constellation at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. We are investigating open government datasets using semantic web technologies. Currently, we are translating such datasets into RDF, getting them linked to the linked data cloud, and developing interesting applications and demos on linked government data. Most of the datasets shown on this page come from the US government's data.gov Web site, although some are from other countries or non-government sources.
VisualEyes is web-based authoring tool developed at the University of Virginia to weave images, maps, charts, video and data into highly interactive and compelling dynamic visualizations. VisualEyes enables scholars to present selected primary source materials and research findings while encouraging active inquiry and hands-on learning among general and targeted audiences. It communicates through the use of dynamic displays – or "visualizations" – that organize and present meaningful information in both traditional and multimedia formats, such as audio-video, animation, charts, maps, data, and interactive timelines. The effective use of the visualizations can reveal and illuminate relationships between multiple kinds of information across time and space far more effectively than words alone.
