Rezension zu Jonas Jonassohns Bestseller 'Der Hundertjährige, der aus dem Fenster stieg und verschwand" und ein VErsuch der Erklärung seines enormen Erfolges.
Wir können es uns heute gar nicht mehr vorstellen, aber es gab tatsächlich einmal eine Zeit - und eigentlich ist das noch gar nicht so lange her -, in der einem die Bilder eines Unglücks oder eines Verbrechens nicht unmittelbar nach dem Ereignis aus dem Fernsehen oder dem Internet entgegenflimmerten.
Gab es hier im Blog zuletzt noch Science Fiction Klassiker, Literaturnobelpreisträger und ähnliches, kommt heute einmal etwas ganz anders daher, das sich in meine Leseliste geschlichen hat. Eine Familiengeheimnis-, Lebenskrisen- und Vergangenheitsbewältigungskiste, die aber überrascht und die es verstand, selbst einen Lesesnob wie mich in ihren Bann zu schlagen...und das nicht nur wegen des wunderschönen Einbands.
Was für ein bescheuerter Titel für einen Roman. Aber wie heißt es doch: 'Don't judge a book by the cover' und daher also auch nicht notwendigerweise nach dessen Titel. Natürlich hat das Buch etwas mit Albert Einstein zu tun. Zudem spielt es laut Klappentext auch in meiner Nachbarschaft, eine Kombination von der ich mir einiges versprach. Aber wir werden sehen....
Nein, es war keine Sache des Timings, dass ich ausgerechnet jetzt Michael Crichtons "Der große Eisenbahnraub" gelesen habe. Vergangene Woche, am 4. November 2008, ist der Bestseller Autor im Alter von 65 Jahren an einem Krebsleiden verstorben. Er hinterlässt uns ein ganzes Arsenal an spannenden und mitunter intelligenten Thrillern, deren Thematik oft den Gegenstand aktueller Kontroversen aufgegriffen hat (z.B. Klonen, Nanotechnologie, Schwarmintelligenz, usw.).
Ich hatte ja schon im vergangenen Jahr von Leo Perutz geschwärmt, als ich dessen endlos ineinander verwobene Prager Geschichtensammlung 'Nachts unter der steinernen Brücke' rezensierte. Eine Nachbarin, die ich mit meiner Begeisterung angesteckt hatte, hat sich mittlerweile sein gesamtes Werk beschafft und sogar in Gänze durchgelesen. Daher war ich sehr dankbar, dass ich auf ihr Vorwissen zurückgreifen konnte, bei der Auswahl, welches seiner Bücher wohl das nächste werden sollte, dass ich lesen und hier im Biblionomicon besprechen würde. Am Ende kam mir noch der Zufall zu Hilfe, der mir den 'schwedischen Reiter' in einer schönen DBG-Ausgabe (Deutsche Buch Gemeinschaft) aus den 1950er Jahren in die Hände spielte und das ist dabei herausgekommen...
