Die EU-Handelskommissarin Cecilia Malmström hatte bei der Anhörung "Transparenz" über TTIP versprochen, als die zukünftigen Kommissare von Europarlamentariern zur Bildung der EU-Kommission befragt wurden. Die liberale Schwedin gehörte nicht zu den umstrittenen Kandidaten und ihr Versprechen erleichterten ihr den Weg in die Kommission. Doch eingehalten wurde nichts, weshalb Abgeordnete von grünen und linken Formationen vor dem sogenannten "reading room" protestierten, wo sich die geheimen TTIP-Unterlagen befinden, weil ihnen der Zugang verweigert wurde.
US-Regierung will EU-Mitgliedsstaaten nur unter Aufsicht Einsicht in Verhandlungsdokumente geben , Wirtschaftsminister Sigmar Gabriel fordert einen „direkten Zugang“.
