Einem Bericht der britischen Tageszeitung The Guardian zufolge hat die EU-Kommission der Erdöllobby besonders guten Zugang zu den Verhandlungen zum transatlantischen Freihandelsabkommen TTIP verschafft. Zu den Nutznießern gehören unter anderem ExxonMobil und der größte europäische Arbeitgeberverband BusinessEurope. Dies zeigt erneut ein grundlegendes Problem der EU-Handelspolitik: Sie ist trotz öffentlicher Kritik weiter stark geprägt von Unternehmensinteressen.
„Really good friends of services“ – so lautet der wohlklingende Name einer kleinen eingeschworene Gemeinschaft, die regelmäßig in Genf zusammen kommt. Parallel zum Handelsabkommen TTIP verhandelt diese illustre Runde aus Vertretern von rund 50 Ländern seit 2012 über TiSA. TiSA steht für das „Trade in Services Agreement“ – ein Dienstleistungsabkommen zwischen den Mitgliedsstaaten der EU und 24 weiteren Staaten.
Die österreichische Meinl Bank verklagt die Republik Österreich über eine maltesische Briefkastentochterfirma vor einem internationalen Schiedsgericht. Die Bank klagt, weil sie Untersuchungen wegen Untreue, Betrug oder Steuerhinterziehung als geschäftsschädigend und indirekt als Enteigung betrachtet. Der Fall zeigt: Konzernklagerechte sind ein fragwürdiges Privileg für Unternehmen. Sie stärken den ohnehin schon großen Einfluss von Konzernen auf die Politik und schädigen damit die Demokratie.
