    Tim Berners-Lee confirmed as plenary speaker Tim Berners-Lee is the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, a Senior Researcher at MIT where he leads the Decentralized Information Group, and a Professor of Computer Science at University of Southampton. While working at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory, he invented the World Wide Web. It was there where he wrote the first Web client (a combination of browser and editor) and the first Web server. His original specifications of URLs, HTTP and HTML were widely adopted and refined as Web technology spread. In 2001 he became a fellow of the Royal Society, and more recently he received the 2007 Charles Stark Draper Prize, given by the National Academy of Engineering (US). His plenary talk will take place on Wednesday May 9 at WWW2007.
