Abstract

This work presents the configurable electronic journal (CEJ), a solution for generating configurable and extensible electronic journals. CEJ environment is flexible to accommodate different styles of publication, suitable to be used in different processes and disciplines. Some key goals of CEJ project include experimenting with new collaborative forms of scholarly communication as well as discovering new roles in the scientific publication process. The system was designed and implemented using open technologies of W3C semantic Web, including the extended markup language (XML), XPointer and annotation technologies. It is also built upon Struts, an open source MVC-based framework for Java Web applications.
