Using this formal ontology, automated semantic reasoning can be performed by computers, opening up the path to a whole range of Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications. We describe how the NLP applications created by L&C use the LinKBase® formal ontology. The benefits and advantages of this approach are demonstrated by analyzing a project done for a company called IDEWE, the leading occupational health provider in Belgium.
